VintageEarly 1900’s Glass Beaded Bag with Jeweled Frame | AustriaThis Glass Beaded Bag comes fromour personal collection that was assembled some 30 years ago and put away in abox after the Santa Monica earthquake of 1994. This vintage purse has not seenthe light of day until now.This is an absolutely gorgeous exampleof an early 1900’s European glass beaded purse. Points of interest:1.The carrying chain is brass, (Ibelieve) and has filigreed ends that attach to the two detailed loops on theframe.2.The frame, also brass I believe,features:a.Elaborate etching on the front,top and back sides.b.Semi-precious stone (2) encrustedclaspc.Semi-precious stone encrustedfront – this speaks to an interest, at the time, of buried Egyptian treasuresthat were being unearthed.d.The inside of the frame isengraved with “Mrs. Rodney V. Johnson”e.“Austria” is stamped on the framenear one of the hinges.f.The beading is sewn in to theframe. All the points of contact are connected.g.The lining is in amazingcondition and features two pockets. I believe that it is silk.h.The hinges are in very goodcondition and open to 180 degrees3.The glass beads are a combinationof fine and semi-fine beads which give this amazing floral design a dimensionalappearance.4.The bottom features a “TwistedLoop Fringe” and is in perfect condition.5. The length of the frame is 7.5\" end to end. It extends down almost 2.5\". The bag width is 8\" below the frame. The bag is about 8.5” long. The carry strap adds about 6” to the length – making a total length of 14½”. And it weighs 9.6 0z. or 277 Grams. This is a beautiful bag and inExcellent Condition.
