This is a group of 6 old spice tins with stenciled tops, all contained in a tin lock box. I found this old box in a dusty old manse here in Milwaukee. Each spice tin measures about 2.5\" in diameter and height, and each has a tin cap stenciled with a spice name - MUSTARD, NUTMEG, ALLSPICE, CINNAMON, GINGER, and CLOVES. The lid of the spice box is stenciled \"SPICES\", although it has nearly faded away over the years. There is a spice / nutmeg grinder attached to the lid of the box. The box measures about 9\" X 6\" X 4\" and contains a clasp that can accommodate a lock - spices were extremely valuable back in days of old. There was some newspaper stuffed into the box that acted as padding. I left a few remnants in there so you can try and determine a more exact age.
This item is in Good Condition. The top and front of the spice box has lost its shine, and the stenciled has all but disappeared. The spice tins are shiny on their sides, but the tops are dull and the stenciling is fading. The lid on the NUTMEG tin has paint falling off - you can see it in the photo, but a bit more fell off when I replaced the tin.
