See Photos. Vintage IBM Think sign compliments of the IBM Corporation. Double sided, good condition. Varnish is worn on bottom on one side. This sign is from the early to mid 1950\'s as part of their advertising campaign. Seller Lot #1610
Thomas J. Watson created the THINK sign when he was the general sales manager of the National Cash Register Co. In 1914, he brought it with him to the Computer-Tabulating-Recording Corporation, which became I.B.M. The THINK sign was not intended for machines or the lowly drones that operated them, but for executives.
The THINK motto was ubiquitous within IBM offices and factories throughout the world by the 1930s, and began attracting notice outside the company within the same decade. IBM was deluged with requests from the public for its iconic THINK signs, and from customers who wanted to use them in their own businesses. In 1948, IBM handed out 9000 signs; by 1960 that number had jumped to 20,000.Listed shipping costs are for the lower 48 (USA) states.
