This is a lovely vintage Eleanor Beard circa 1920\'s appliqued quilt in excellent condition, especially for its age. It is a lovely peach color with appliqued flowers gracing the quilt. Eleanor Beard\'s label is attached. My pictures do not do this quilt justice. Please ask if you need me to take more pictures.
It measures approximately 66\" x 100\". I believe this would be a twin size quilt for a twin bed or could be used on a daybed. (My picture was taken on a queen size bed). It does have cutaways or slits to fit over the siderails and footboard of the bed. This is a rare find to have such a lovely piece in such beautiful condition.
Here is a bit of history on ELEANOR BEARD:
Eleanor Beard created one of the most successful of the Kentucky Quilt cottage industries. By 1929, Eleanor Beard had offices and outlets in New York City, Pasadena, Santa Barbara, and Chicago. At the height of its business, the studio employed around 1,000 people. Some quilters worked in her studio and many more worked at home. The Eleanor Beard Studio meant the survival of Hardinsburg and the surrounding towns during the Depression. About a year after she sold her first comforter, a beautiful silk one, hand-quilted in a delicate and exquisite original design, business boomed. She then began making pillows, spreads, robes, and novelties such as the ones in the exhibit: water bottle covers, lingerie bags, bed jackets, and even toilet seat covers. These were the height of luxury and finely handcrafted.
