Vintage Exhibit Supply 1c Coin Op Penny Arcade Game Trade Stimulator Machine For Sale
Offering for sale at an Antique Coin Operated
penny arcade machine made by Exhibit Supply Company (ESCO) circa 1940s. The machine offers whimsical answers to that
age-old question: WHAT AM I INCLINED TO BE?

MACHINE IN ACTION
Exhibit Supply was probably the largest maker of
countertop machines; part of the reason for this was their carnival and
traveling show market. These people were on the move, and compact money making
machines were exactly what they needed.
These counter-top games were intended to give a bit of
fun and whimsy during WWII and are a lot of fun to play. You simply drop a penny in the slot and
squeeze the handle. The different titles
on the backglass flash in sequence as the electric motor inside whirrs
along. After a few moments the motor
stops and one of the lights stays illuminated – showing the patron what they
are “INCLINED TO BE”.
This particular backglass – with the frolicking mice
who are decked out in top hat and tails (plural?) – is a rather rare
graphic. I’ve seen quite a few ESCO
meters like this over the years - - and most of them are personality,
disposition or love meters.
Condition-wise, while the backglass is free of cracks
and chips there are many areas where the paint has separated from the glass
(not uncommon on these old painted back-glasses). There are some spots with major paint
loss. See the photos for detail.
The cabinet is in good original condition and shows
well. There is a replacement back door –
made of wood just like an original. The
mechanism runs reliably and stops as it should (watch video) – although
sometimes the lights do not all shine when they should - - a bit of attention
to the wiring and/or bulbs should get it all shaped up.
While these are not rare, finding one that has the
original grip handles and coin entry is a nice treat. If you have seen some of the recent ESCO
machines sold here on you may have noticed that they were converted to
coin slide machines. It’s great that this machine (and another one I’m listing separately) is original.
The dimensions of the machine are 28 inches high, 11.5
inches wide and about 10 inches deep.
I can ship this item – and would suggest I remove the
backglass and pack it separately inside for the safest transit.
The machine will be packed carefully - shipping in the
US will be $65.
I can arrange
delivery in the greater Southern California or Central Valley for
anegotiable fee.LOCAL PICKUP ISAVAILABLE IN the greater
Pasadena, CA area and this is PREFERRED.
Please ask any and all
questions prior to placing a offer – the unit is sold as-is. Review my recent response for similar vintage
coin op machines – It is overwhelmingly positive. offer with confidence.
Have a look at my other sales – I have listed a “sister” machine to this one and there
are several nice examples of vending machines, trade stimulators and other
penny arcade coin op machines now and coming over the next several weeks.
