Vintage “ Franklin Mint Civil War Chess Set ” with Custom Table ~ADDED NEW PICS:

We are letting go of this special Vintage National Historical Society Complete Chess set that has been kept under glass and never used all these years. Authenticated by The National Historical Society, and created by the Franklin Mint, this Civil War Chess Set in solid Pewter, solid brass and embellished with fine enamels. The pieces are original portrait sculptures honoring the heroes of both the North and the South. The 32 playing chessmen pieces are housed underneath the playing board in the velvet lined case. Handcrafted playing pieces are solid pewter and solid brass with bases finished with blue and grey enamels. Each pieces is etched in the pewter, each has a felted bottom to prevent sliding on the playing board. It comes with a certificate of authenticity, and all the notes for each individual piece. These pieces were mailed out monthly and discontinued in 1983. The total ORIGINAL cost was $280.00. This was not including the custom made wood table display you see in these photos. The chess set has sat on this red felt all these years in a smoke free pet free home. You would have to look a long time to find one in this great of condition i think. The ones left in mint condition sell on for $750.00, and while there are cheaper ones on there if you research and read each of those ads you will find that there are scratches or warping usually on those.

This would be an amazing gift for someone special in your life who is a history buff and happens to like chess! I am sad to sell it but we are raising money for college tuition for my son.
