Three exquisitely depicted figures, shown embracing with arms interlocked. This expressionist work is painted with extraordinary skill and a highly refined sense of line and color. Pigment applied in feathery rhythmic sinuous strokes. Figures delineated with wonderful Venitian red line. Background of painting in lush pale yellow-white creates amazing back lighting effect to the figures.
-Worked entitled \"3 comrades\". - Most likely created in the 1930\'s soon after the artist arrived to the United States.- Brings to mind the work of Mane Katz or David Davidovich Burliuk.
- Signed at lower right corner. Also signed and titled on back.- Painting is by Bucks County artist - Carl Knop (?-1987).- Purchased directly from the family\'s estate.- Oil painting on stretched canvas.- Excellent vintagecondition. - Original thin gold painted slat frame, shows wear from age.- Large scale: Measures 30.5\" x 24.5\" in thin frame.
