Description:
Vintage, mid-century modern Georges Briard nearly square dish for appetizers or candy is in the Regalia pattern. The king\'s crown is situated in the center, surrounded by feathers, shafts of wheat or egg and dart. Interior is smooth, while exterior is pebbled. Rendered in Briard\'s classic gold leaf, the dish bears his signature and a smaller crown beside it. This is a circa 1960 piece.
Born Jascha Brojdo in 1917, Georges Briard was an American award-winning designer in the 1950s, 1960s and 1970s. He is best known for his signature dishware and glassware, which were sold at upscale department stores, such as Neiman Marcus and Bonwit Teller. He was born in the Ukraine and moved to Chicago from Poland in 1937. He died in 2005.
