For Your Vintage Paper Mache Candy Container A very nice large size Paper Mache or papier-mâché candy container in the form of an egg. This paper egg is decorated with a beautiful and very colorful print depicting papa duck and mama duck pushing a baby carriage with three duckling following in tow. They are walking along a path in the middle of filed with a wooden fence, a barn in the background and many colorful flowers. Papa duck is smoking a cigarette (you know this is old when it was fashionable to smoke) and mama duck has her head covered with a polka dot red hanky. Papa duck is wearing a typical green Tyrolean hat with a feather. The container comes in two halves both having the same design and having a red colored band at the edge. The bottom half has a central oval depression to allow the egg to stay in place on a flat surface. The inside of the egg is lined with cream colored paper with a delicate red floral design having the words \"container made in Western Germany\" dispersed within the floral design. The egg has an inserted rope at the wide end of the bottom half, which can be seen in the photos. A very nice and colorful vintage egg that would display nicely in your collection of German Paper Mache Easter Egg candy containers.   • Origin: Purchased at an estate sale in Robesonia, Pennsylvania. The egg was made in Western Germany.
  • Size: The container measures ~6 3/8\" by ~3 7/8\", and is 4 1/4\" high. The piece itself weighs about 2.5 ounces.
  • Maker: Unknown.
  • Marks: Marked \"container made in Western Germany\" on the inside.
