This doll is a very nice old composition german ( I am assuming) doll, however there are no marks other than a number 556 on her back shoulder area. There is some writing in the neck area, but not legible. She is a very nice size for a dolls house , measuring in at 4 ½ inches tall. Her painted facial features are still very appealing to the eye, ( no paint loss ) She wears painted on shoes. Her joints are loose and she needs a restringing. Her dress appears to be original to her. It is a nice black cotton dress trimmed in white (aged to an off white) rick rack. The back has a button closure. She appears to date to about 1940. She comes in an adorable box, appropriately sized to the doll. The box is lined with wonderful old cotton batting. The box lid had had many repairs and had writing on the inside lid. The edges of the box lid have paper loss in various spots. The box, probably her home for a long time, is an old starch box, \\probably a lot older than her.
