This prettythimble has bright yellow enamel over gilded sterling silver.Thisenamel style, where an engine turned design in the silver shows throughthe translucent background enamel, isknown as guilloche enamel. Thetop has gilded waffle style knurling. Inside the top ismarked \"Norway Sterling\"and it has the maker\'s mark used by David Andersen.

The conditionis excellent with no chips or loss to the silver or enamel.It\'s about an American size 8 (15 mm opening) and is gilded inside.Similar thimbles by this maker are shown on pp. 36-37 in thenew book EnameledThimbles of Norway by Dan Walbrun published by ThimbleCollectors International.
