This is quite the handy dandy compact metal file box apparently originally intended for household use. It measures about 10-1/2\" X 8\" X 3\" and can be stored flat or like a book, standing on end. I can\'t find any maker\'s mark but I believe it is circa 1950s. It is gray steel with a lock but there is no key. Theheavy paperaccordion file is cleverly labeled in four differentcolumns so that it can be used in several ways. The first column is by month; the second, alphabetically; the third by typical household categories (bank statements, unpaid bills, receipts, income taxes, etc.); and the fourth by recipe box categories.

It comes from an estate and has been used but not abused. The accordion file shows a little wear but definitely not much considering its age. Some of the tabs are slightly bent and there are a couple of places at the edges that could use a drop of glue although the whole thing is functioning very well as it is. The box is in almost excellent condition, again considering its age. There are some scratches on the bottom, a few tiny areas of surface rust and a couple of almost non-existent dings. Please view the photos carefully as they are an important part of the description.It isbeing sold as described, as is. I cannot guarantee thatit hasnot been exposed to odors: smoking, fragrance, cooking, mustiness, mothballs, other types of storage odors or pets.
