This vintage 1-cent Groetchen \"Mercury\" trade stimulator dates to approximately 1939. It operates in the same general fashion as a slot machine, except that it does not pay out in cash. Instead, if the reels stop in a winning combination (three matching cigarette packs as they appear on the reels) the machine will dispense a token redeemable with the proprietor. The machine comes without tokens, but they do show up periodically on . The machine is operated by dropping a penny in the coin slot and then pulling the Bakelite knob. The coin then appears in a viewing window in the rear of the machine. The coin can be released by pressing a button in the rear of the machine or it will automatically release automatically with the next play. The machine is in good cosmetic condition considering that the paint is original. It also appears to be working exactly as it should. Please see photos for details and feel free to ask questions.
