Description

We are pleased to offer this beautiful Sterling Silver Handled/Wooden Utensil Salad Serving Set manufactured byan Hallmark Silver Company, circa early 1900’s. This beautiful set includes the fork and spoon. Both pieces measure approximately 11” long (each weighing approximately 90 grams total). There is some damage to the fork that can be repaired/modified; please see Condition notes below for further details. You are purchasing one salad serving set.

Based upon weighing the sterling clad handle alone of a salad serving fork in this pattern, the handle weight only of each piece is estimated to be 73 grams.

Markings

The sterling handle has “Sterling Hallmark” imprinted into the base. The wooden utensils have“ France”.

Condition

This salad serving set is in overall, good condition. The wooden spoon is in very good condition with only a minor scratch in the center of the bowl and some wear to the finish along the front edge (see photo 5). The fork has some damage to it. The base of the fork comes completely out of the sterling handle and it is rather difficult to push the base all the way down. In addition, two of the tines have been broken off at the tips. A good wood crafter could simply trim down the tines so that they all match in length and have a nice edge or could replace the piece. The sterling handles have been lighty cleaned and are in very good condition; however, areas of stubborn tarnish remain. This salad set is very difficult to find and is quite stunning.
