Hi, you are offerding on a hand carved buffalo statue. I bought a couple pieces at an estate sale 3 months ago. I have not listed them until now because I can\'t find out much about them. This one is a hand carved buffalo with mother of pearl and turquoise inlay pieces. The horns are turquoise. The body itself is what we cannot figure out. It is a very hard substance, but if you scrap it it is kinda soft. I had an antique dealer in New Orleans look at it and he said it was some kind of soap stone or lime stone. I completely submerged it in water to clean it, and even scrubbed it with a brush. As you can see from the photos, the detail in the carving is very very good. This item must have taken a long time to make. The lady having the sale said she can remember them as a child over 50 years ago. We could not find any markings. I also have a polar bear, but at this time I am mainly trying to find out more about the pieces, so I will list it later. You see small pieces about 2 1/2 inches long listed for 50 to 200 dollars. This piece is 9 inches long X 5 1/2 inches tall and 3 inches thick. The detail on this piece is awesome. I can\'t say enough about it.
