Vintage Hand Knotted Wool Tan Floral Aubusson Rug - Antique French Carpet:

Antique French Aubusson Rug - I believe it is from the 1930s, but could be older.
Remarkable piece of work with beautiful, graceful clusters of flowers around the outer border, featuring soft red and pink rose blossoms with touches of blue and swags of leafy architectural flowering vines, with clusters at each corner, and continuing all around the outer edge. Two of the corner motifs are much larger than the other 2. Rug is completed with a plain beige/moss green border.
All is set against a ground of cool ivory/tan/beige field with a faint allover lozenge lattice of curving leaves.
This rug looks like it was designed to be used under a table and I see a couple of faint marks that appear to be where chairs were pushed back and forth (hard to see), so it may need a cleaning...thus, a reasonable starting price so you can get it cleaned.No tags...Aubusson rugs are identified by their style and the distinctive threads intentionally left long on the back.It will probably need a pad under it since there is no pile for softness.
It is really beautiful.Note that the center pattern is not as pronounced as in the photos (last several photos were taken outside and that is a better representation of the center pattern).
