Vintage Hand Sewn OLD FABRICS Feed Sack Cotton Strippy Postage Stamp ? Quilt TOP:
$46.75

Please notice this is a quilt TOP: it is NOT a finished quilt or bedspread, as there is no batting or backing beneath the pieced fabrics you see in the photos.
This quilt top measures approximately 76\" by 72\" across, so it is rather small. The bed used for the pics is a queen, 80\" by 60\", and the top covers OK the width, but a bit to tight to become a queen size quilt, in our opinion.
The square swatches are 1 1/2\" square (pic # 2, please check) so we are calling this \"Postage Stamp\" although maybe that is not the right name for the pattern. The \"stamps\" were set in strips of two running vertical with nice printed red sashing between them.
The fabrics are of the \"very\" old type, we believe, used by quilters before feed sacks became popular. They have (most of them) small or diminutive prints that we have found in cottons made in France and imported to the USA between late 19th century and the first decades of the 20th. There is an online catalog where fabrics very similar to these appear, and those were made in France in the late 19th century.
But please be aware we are no fabric experts or quilters or collectors, so take with a grain of salt what we are saying above and do your own search.
The quilt top was set by hand: please check close-up # 12 to see the stitching.
We combine shipping.
