Up forsale is a handcrafted Zuni Silver piece for the hair fashioned into a clip barrette. Ithas nine (9) serrate bezel set, itty-bitty round and oblong turquoise stoneswith tiny silver shot (bead) decoration and elementary stamp work on theupturned ends. It measures 1/8\" wide x 2 3/4\" long and weighs 4.27 gprior to packing. The reverse is fitted out with a wire leg though ring for the legs and a c-clasp component to fasten shut. It holds an esoteric hand-incisedmarking of letters: REXPR. A few of the pics show a U.S. Quarter Dollar coin;it is there to help you visualize overall dimensions and barrettes\' curvature.This was sourced second hand at a local vintage wares market here in the BayArea beyond this I have no specific history on it.

Please referto images for your take on age, design and condition. Probably from the mid1940\'s, a Fred Harvey Era item and Zuni crafted. It has a dash-dot pattern onslim bar with applied beads, a style appropriate for any age. Despite oxidationin the recessed portions of the silver and some superficial bending to the (removable)wire legs (they are manually adjustable) the clip is in good vintage conditionwith acceptable surface wear to the stones - more seen in the enlarged imagesbut nothing gross or readily noticeable to the naked eye. Please note: fromstone to stone there is a variance of colors and crown heights. It\'s a supersweet piece with some decent age, worthy of display but very wearable too. Itis more decorative (holding a small amount of hair) than utilitarian and whileit is somewhat tricky to get fastened into the hair, once it is -- it holdstight and I find it not needing adjustment during the day. It has neither beencleaned nor polished and looks good just as it sets...a light rub with polishcloth may be in order, or not.
