This genuine Hewlett-Packard Rappaport Sprague stethoscope dates from the late 1970\'s. The binaurals, ear tips, and body are original. The tubes (14\" long), clip which holds the tubes together, large bell, and diaphragm were replaced in the mid-1990\'s with genuine HP replacement parts. The spring which holds the binaurals together and the tube caps were replaced at the same time, but I have been told that these appear to be after-market parts (see photos). The original box and the little case with the extra ear tips and pediatric bell and diaphragm were lost years ago, so are obviously not included. This piece saw 30+ years of daily use on the job and is still fully functional and in good shape for its age; the chestpiece rotates easily and clicks audibly into place. However, it has a few cosmetic \"battle scars\" to show: there is some slight plating wear on the binaurals where the spring has rubbed and also on the clip, the \"business\" part of the diaphragm has a couple of dings, and the part of the sub-diaphragm which screws into the body is a little bit chewed-up (it got stuck in place once and required some force to remove it).
