Vintage Holt-Howard USA !2\" x 9\" Platter advertising a great sale at Aeolus Gaspipe. The featured elephant is running, to the sale I guess, carrying a banner that reads \"Attention! Womankind!\" The elephant\'s scalloped blanket reads \"Selling Off! Fast and Furious! all the Magnificent stock of Aeolus Gaspipe. Those who want goods must come quick!\" They do love their exclamation points! The back is marked \"Holt-Howard Oven-Proof U.S.A\" Holt-Howard was founded 1949, primarily a distributor and importer. This may be from the 1950s or 60s., but the advertisement is , I think, from an earlier time. This then would have appealed to American country decorating.
CONDITION: The glaze has little popped bubble pits, a little under-the-glaze brown smudge on the rim, issues sort of expected for this type of piece. There is a chip on the bottom at the edge of the rim, otherwise, as it came from the pottery. No signs of use.
A great piece of advertising directed to the woman of the house. Excellent, fun piece for a Republican or a non-Republican, a Feminist or Other Woman. Great display and conversation piece. I love it--obviously :)
