Here is a HOPI SOWI-ING or DEER KACHINA, IN EXCELLENT CONDITION, A WELL CARVED / PAINTED NATIVE AMERICAN COTTONWOOD CARVING. A nice and collectible vintage, old authentic Hopi Katsina Hopi Doll, a made from solid Cottonwood. This Kachina was made by an expert HOPI maker - Hopituh Shimmunu .

This is a fine looking Kachina, with a great workmanship, and a nice paint job, as well as expert carving. He is made from solid Cottonwood Tree Wood standing, with an intentional lean, at about 15 1/2\" tall, and 6 1/2\" wide at fists. There is some very minor wear to paint / feathers, but no damage (no cracks or breaks body). This Kachina, as you can see from the pics, displays extremely well and is a handsome and collectible piece of Native America.

The body is carved from a single piece of the traditional Cottonwood - a tree that grows in washes and canyons where water is more HERE IS A GREAT EXAMPLE OF A SOWI-ING / DEER AUTHENTIC HOPI KACHINA. THIS DEER (ALSO ANTELOPE) KACHINA APPEARS IN THE PLAZA DANCES EITHER AS A GROUP IN THE LINE DANCES OR AS AN INDIVIDUAL IN THE MIXED DANCE. HE, AS WELL AS THE OTHER HERBIVOROUS ANIMALS, MAKES THE RAINS COME AND THE GRASS GROW. carved and painted by a master Hopi Kachina carver/maker -EP (Earl P. per estate sale information)!!!
