Vintage INDO PERSIAN Engraved Tray ENAMEL Birds TIGERS Hunt Scene SILVERED BRASS:

salerpaul Store I have little expertise in this field of art, but I find this piece pretty impressive.
The round brass tray has a silvery coating (some areas worn, showing yellow - which is also attractive), and has a sunken center with an ornate outline. The whole surface of the interior as well as the wide rim is covered with fine engraving of birds, and alternating tigers chasing gazelle type animals. In the very center, a single tiger lies on the prey he caught.
The whole background around the animals is exquisitely engraved with flowers & foliage. The ground is colored with green enamel, except for a red band around the circumference of the sunken section. In addition, there are birds, animals, and flowers highlighted with red, white, blue enamels.
The tray is approx. 12\" diameter x 1/2\" deep. Weighs 1.25 lbs. BEFORE packaging. (Shipping weight will be in the over 2-/under 3-lbs. range.)
I see no marks of any kind to identify a maker, etc. Nor can I tell you anything specific as to exact origin or age.
