Vintage India Gurkha Kukri Fighting Knife Lion Head - Wood / Leather Sheath Old:

Large, heavy gurkha kukri fighting knife from India features a wickedly curved, chrome-plated steel blade with decorative punches (flowers, scrolls, the word \"India\"). The blade is sharp (not razor sharp, but sharp enough to injure yourself!) The handle is black wood (I think) with a design of inlaid metals and a lion\'s head decoration at the end.
The wooden, leather-covered sheath is obviously very old and not in very good condition. The leather is hand embossed with an elaborate crosshatch pattern. The edge is decorated with an openwork metal border, and there is a metal symbol of crossed swords and a crown. Also a metal tip at the end. It is hand stitched. Some of the leather is peeling off, and there is a large \"repair\" made with black electrical tape that runs almost the length of the sheath.
The metal on the sheath and handle appears to be plated brass.
I don\'t know the age of this knife, but judging from the look of it, and especially the sheath, I would guess no later than 1940s.
Size: Knife alone measures 16.5 inches long. Blade measures about 12 inches long and about two inches wide at widest point. With the sheath, the whole thing measures 18 inches long.
