This is a really beautiful ornate vintage tablecloth from my collection of fine heritage linens distinguished with intricate hand embroidery ~skillfully worked to a high standard.

The embroidery decorates a wide area of this piece in a beautiful blend of cleverly chosen complimentary colours ~ violet, magenta, turquoise, deep rose pink and olive greens with accents of golden yellow, light pink and hints of orange.

The embroidery stitches are complex so please look carefully at the images to see the detail especially the raised textured stitches on the turquoise flowers and the intricate chain stitch on the leaves. Last image shows the neatly finished reverse ~always a sign if expertise.

Note the embroidery at each corner featuring a circle with a double border framing two bell shaped flowers, two elongated shaped leaves and stems of turquoise flowers with seven petals.

Radiating out from this circle and flowing outwards to the corner are long broken lines in deep rose accented with light pink and accented with turquoise flowers dotted between.

There are two smaller circles with more turquoise flowers and olive green foliage.

The embroidery at each corner measures a large 30\" x 13\" (76cm x 33cm) almost touching the embroidery at the adjacent corners.

The centre of the tablecloth features a large circle 15\" diameter (38cm) featuring four circles (smaller replicas of the ones at the corners) and linked with the same pink broken lines and turquoise flowers.

This has been crafted from fine quality snowy white silky smooth Irish linen and has a lovely deep 1.5\" (4cm) turned hem with cross over corners and drawn thread work detail.

It has a very clean light airy appearance, drapes very well and perfect for displaying in a country inspired setting or to give as gift.

I always wrap very carefully with layers of tissue paper and pretty satin ribbons.

Perfect also for a special occasion laid over another larger tablecloth to give a tiered skirted appearance ~ vintage weddings, christenings etc.

Measurements: 49\" x 48\" (124.5cm x 122cm)

Condition: Vintage and in near pristine condition. I have laundered this before listing to freshen it up as it has been carefully stored and appears to have had very little use ~ probably kept for best. I can just see a glimmer of the pattern stencil under some of the embroidery which indicates to me that it has hardly been used and laundered. It is very clean, fresh and ready for use and to enjoy.

I have, as always, taken many images so that it is easier to appreciate and study the amazing needlework skills of those who created these heritage pieces from a bygone era. Please do so as they form part of my description and reflect the care, time & patience that have been spent on this beautiful work. I like to think the images speak for themselves.

Each piece I list is so very different and an expression of the creativity of the embroiderer – a precious resource in this age of mass production and one to be cherished for future generations.

I am passionate about preserving these pieces for future generations, always appreciative and aware of the skill and never under estimating the amount of time taken to produce these pieces.

Some are more detailed and elaborate than others but each seem to have their own personality reflecting that of the embroiderer and sense of achievement. So much so that many of the pieces I sell, either vintage or antique, have been stored away with little use and kept for best.

To me they are an art form and a joy to behold when so much is mass produced these days. I also feel very privileged to care for these beautiful pieces getting them ready for future generations.

Please remember that my linens are either antique or vintage and as such means that they have a history of use which is part of their charm and why I am passionate about collecting and selling them.

\"A thing of beauty is a joy for ever: Its loveliness increases; it will never pass into nothingness; but still will keep
A bower quiet for us, and a sleep full of sweet dreams, and health, and quiet breathing.\"

John Keats 1795 -1871
