In this sale we are offering a Vintage LOUIS MARX MORTIMER SNERD\'S HOME TOWN BAND TIN TOY.This scarce Louis MarxMORTIMER SNERD\'S HOME TOWN BAND MARCHING DRUMMER Tin Toy is in nice working condition. Wind the key and the legs move quickly back and forth, and the right arm strikes loudly on the tin drum. We only wound this a little, because of age, about 3/4 turn on the key. When we put it down it stops. It still operates very smoothly though.
Both wooden wheels are intact and so is the round drumstick. All three wheels move very freely. STANDS UP ON IT\'S OWN!
The paint is compromised with paint loss and fading. One side has more faded paint and loss than the other with typical tin toy surface scratches.The face and head has all of the paint remaining, strong colors without fading. The drum has a hole on each side and it seems to be manufactured that way.We also carefully looked at each tin piece (body, arms, legs, etc.) to see if all the tin tabs are there and they are all there!
Inside gear mechanism is in great shape, see photo. Marked Louis Marx, New York on the back. Pretty good-sized tin toy with measurements about 8 1/2\" tall and 8 1/2\" long.
Great graphics and it displays very nicely!A really neat, scarce Louis Marx piece and hard to find in any condition, don\'t miss out on this!
