Description
This vintage (1950\'s to 1960\'s) Abraham Lincoln silhouette is about 10 1/2 inches from neck to top of head and about 7 inches from back of head to nose. Metal silhouette weighs about 4 lbs (wood plaque and silhouette weigh over 6 lbs.). I thought this heavy metal was cast iron with a copper front finish until I removed it from wood plaque looking for a makers mark. Metal is not magnetic and a little rubbing on backside with a scotch pad reveals a yellowish metal (looks like brass to me). This is mounted on shield shaped wood plaque that is about 15 x 12 inches at widest and longest edges; 1 inch thick. I think light weight wood is pine; but graining is different from most pine I\'ve seen. Top side center of wood plaque has a hole (must have been used with an eye for hanging - back now has an old wire and nails setup for wall hanging). Back center of silhouette has post for screw mounting. Metal has no damage; there are a few scratches on visible wood with some gouges under mounted silhouette. No markers marks were found. This looks like the plaque I saw on a local bank\'s (now defunct) wall during the late 1950\'s - early 1960\'s. I have a matching Washington plaque in another listing. Any questions please ask.
