Vintage Linen Card Table Cover With Embroidered Aces and Clown 1920s 1930s:
$12.00
This is a nicely made table cover that I suspect is from the 1920s. The features of the clown strongly resemble illustrations from that era. It has no tag or mark, so I can\'t be sure, but I am sure that it\'s a hand made, very vintage item, between 50 and 100 years old. The fabris is a sift woven linen. The hem has a double fold with a blanket stitch over both pieces, which leaves a white border line visible below the black thread; a very nice, extra touch. 2 corners are embellished with the ace of spades, one with an ace of hearts. The fourth corner has a large clown dealing a card onto a cloth like this one. He\'s sewn with thread of black, red, and gold. The cards are all in black and red.
All 4 corners are trimmed to a diagonal shape, and then finished with black ties that are sewn along the edge, and which are meant to be tied around the legs of a table. The cloth is sized for a traditional folding card table. It\'s a square, minus the trimmed corners, measuring 28.5\" across the center. It has a couple of light spots in the center, and a visible though faint line where it had been folded for many years. No holes or loose threads, though. I consider this very good vintage condition, without damage that would affect it-s use or stylishness, nothi g missing, and good strong original colors that represent its era perfectly.
