I will be listing several masks from a mask collector\'s estate. She travelled all over the world collecting masks. Here\'s a vintage scary mask, from the Lötschental valley, Switzerland. It is carved, with a deformed face and what look to be real teeth and wool hair. It is labelled in the back, \"Lötschentaler Masken Heimarbeit\", and I believe Heimarbeit means homemade. This mask measures approx. 8\" tall x 5\" across. Research on Wikipedia says that the Lötschentaler masks are worn during the carnival Tschäggättä. \"The Lötschental is famous for its unique local custom involving the so-called Tschäggättä: frightening figures wearing furs and carved wooden masks that walk the streets during carnival tossing soot at their unsuspecting victims.
