Vintage Luigi Fabris Porcelain Figurine of a Coach with 4 Horses (1217):
$350.00

This is a very rare Luigi Fabris fine porcelain figurine of a lady dressed in Dresden lace inside a carriage being pulled by 4 horses. Two of the horses have riders and there are 2 footmen standing guard behind the beautiful gilded carriage. Most remarkable is the bed of grass and incredible beds of tiny colorful flowers all around the horses hooves and wheels of the coach. All is handpainted. There are detailed scenes on the sides and top of the carriage and lots of gold trim throughout. This piece is vintage and fabulous.

Base measures about 21\" long and is about 7\" high at the carriage

Stamped on the bottom with the Luigi Fabris symbol.

This piece is in Very Good condition for a piece of this age. Could use a cleaning. To find such a vintage piece in this fine condition is a rare find. I see no cracks, repairs or crazing on the flowers or other parts that are there. The reins are intact. There may be some whole clumps of flowers missing since there are a few spots with less flowers. I see one bare spot in the very front where the porcelain looks chipped and may have been covered with a flower(pic # 3 above towards the left of the pic) and 2 barer spots along the one side near the horses feet and the side of the carriage. (see pics 2,4 & 6)The grass and flowers are so delicate and I do not notice any obvious chips on the flowers that are there. These are so intricate that I make no guarantee there might be other very slight chips that I do not notice. If there are any they are inconspicuous. Please look at all pictures closely as these are an integral part of this description. Could use cleaning. Please ask any questions BEFORE you buy if you are in doubt. Since I have described this item in such detail, I am not offering a return since I do not want to see this fine item going back and forth in the mail. So you are buying this figurine \"as is\".

Luigi Fabris was born in Bassano , Italy , in 1883. Hisfather ran a blacksmith shop but Luigi\'s passion was art. He attended theAcademy of Venice studying sculpture and was very successful in thisfield.

In 1918, following the end of World War 1, he moved to Milan where he opened afactory to produce ceramics. He became highly successful and soon his work wasbeing exported worldwide. His factory was destroyed by bombs during World War2, in 1942. In 1946 he returned to his home town of Bassano and opened a newfactory there. He died in 1952.
The delicacy of the lace and flowers on his figurines means that they areextremely difficult to find without any damage or restoration and are eagerlysought after by antique collectors, especially in Italy , France and the USA .
