This is a collection of 8 items from the 1956 trip to Hawaii by Jack and Bob Thornton. They would go on that year to open the Mai-Kai in Ft Lauderdale. If you got this far you know how important the Mai-Kai is and how amazing this collection is. I bought it from a dealer and they said it came from one estate. This sale includes 1) an original United Air Lines Honolulu baggage tag, 2) 2 vintage minty cardboard Trader Vics drink coasters, 3) a Canlis’ Charcoal Broiler Restaurant wine list and a Canlis’ small 3 recipe tabletop folding card, 4)a Halekulani Honolulu Drink stirrer, 5) a Buzz’s-Chuck’s-Bob’s matchbook( if you been to Hawaii you know how good their chow and Mai-Tai’s were) 5) for the piece de resistance a photo of Jack and Bob Thornton at the Queens Surf in the original photo card holder. On the rear of the photo is written in ink who the guests were that evening. One of the 2 women ,Ann Gill, was from Chicago, so that fits in with the travel history.
