Excellent vintage MINTON Bone China CIGARETTE SET Cigarette Holder and Ashtray in the HADDON HALL pattern, still in the ORIGINAL Green and White Minton Gift BOX, made by Minton in the Potteries, Stoke-upon-Trent, Staffordshire, England.
These dainty porcelain smoking sets, which include an ashtray and a cigarette holder are a purely mid-century modern item. They reflect the window in time after World War 2 when it became acceptable and even fashionable for women to smoke in the home, and entertain other women who smoked as well. The combination of leisure, acceptability, and the social occasion of smoking together created a market for just 10-15 years in the 50\'s and 60\'s.
The HADDON HALL pattern was made from 1951 to 2011. The pattern features a a floral pattern reminiscent of PAISLEY with greens, blues, pinks, purples, reds and yellows on a white background with a gold rim.
Marked \"MINTON\" across a laurel wreath topped with a crown, with \"Founded 1793\" and \"Bone China Made in England\". \"Haddon Hall\" is marked over the wreath.
The cigarette holder is 3\" wide x 2 1/4\" tall x 1 1/4\" deep. Sized just right to hold about a pack of unfiltered regular cigarettes. The ashtray is 3 1/2\" in diameter.
The box is about 7 1/2\" x 4\" x 1 1/2\".
Both the ashtray and the cigarette holder are in EXCELLENT condition - there are NO visible signs of use. No cracks, chips, crazing, scratches or repairs.A great set in beautiful condition.
