Antique Mid Century French DILECTA Randonneure/Touring Eroica Road Bicycle 56cm:

This sale is for a very rare vintage Dilecta French Randonneur/ Cyclotouist Hand Built Road Bike from the 1940s or 1950s. This is in great survivor condition with all original to the period parts. This will make a great Eroica Bicycle.
the hand brazed frame has very nice lug work and detailing. I have left it as found to show its patina of honest age. The seat tube measurement is 22\" (55.8 cm)from center of crank to top of tube. the tires which appear true to the period and may be original to this bike when new. These tires are marked Wolbler Ballon 650 B. Remarkably these still hold air (for a day or so) but are dry with many cracks. The frame is in great condition structurally for its age with no dents or cracks and is straight. There is light rust and yellowing of painted surfaces (clear coat over paint appears to have yellowed). All chrome has rust as do fenders. This rust is not severe (except for Stem which has significant rust) and I believe this will clean up quite well.
The components are all true to period and are as follows; Jeay center pull braze on Brakes (left brake lever is a Weinnman), Super Champion Derailleur, sifter and freewheel (which still works smoothly) Strong Light Cranks and headset, Ideale saddle (poor condition), Novi generator light and tail light (tail light has broken lens) There was no chain guard on this when I purchased it at sale. The derailleur shifts nicely and drive train is functioning well. The frame appears to be seamless chrome molly steel tubing ( interpreted from my attempt at translating the french words on the decal on seat tube -see photo for close up). Rear luggage rack is hand fillet brazed very high quality workmanship.
This would be a spectacular classic Eroica bike when properly restored or a great wall hanger as is.
