Vintage, Elgin \" Wedding \" powder compact. Research shows it dates to the 1940s, was often given as a wedding or bridesmaids gift and is seen in Laura Mueller\'s Collector\'s Encyclopedia of Compacts, Carryalls & Face Powder Boxes. It is complete with the original puff & pouch.
White enamel on the base & the lid. The lid is adorned with blue wedding bells, two blue birds each one with a wedding ring in their beaks. The bells & rings are decorated with floral bouquets of pink and blue flowers with green foliage. The design is linked with gold and pink ribbons. The lid opens to reveal the classic famous Elgin shape & mirror. The inner lid is decorated with a beautiful gold tone pattern & signed \" Elgin American MADE IN U.S.A. \" The puff is excellent & it is signed \" ELGIN AMERICAN \". Measures 3 1/2 \" X 2 3/4 \" X 3/8 \" weighs 5 ounces.Condition: Mirror has little, age spots. \"Elgin American\" on the purple bag is almost faded away. A few superficial scratches on the outside and 2 tiny pinhead spots on the gold metal inside. Has been kept in the purple, felt bag as a collectible and not used. Powder compartment is clean and empty. Powder puff looks unused. Enamel and artwork are in beautiful shape. Overall, very good condition.All questions are welcomed. Thank you for looking.
