This very accomplished oil on canvas measures 14 ½” x 16 ½” framed; 8 5/8” x 10 3/8” actual and 8 1/8” x 10 1/8” (reveal). It depicts Place Ste. Pierre with Sacre Coeur and is signed lower left A Franchet. Andre Franchet (French, 1896-1961) was a talented and prolific painter of Parisian street scenes. Often geared to the tourist trade, Franchet’s canvases has a knack for capturing the moment through the addition of colorful period elements. It is VERY dirty and quite colorful; I especially like the old Citroen (Renault?) and tiny figures on the street. It is housed in an exceptional quality French chalky carved gilt wood frame in white gray and gold.
