For your consideration, a fineHawaiiankoa wood carved modernistbowl, most probably circa 1950’s-1970’s.The work measures 10” x 6” x 3” and is in excellent condition with no chips, damage, or repairs.Thisfine example of 20thcentury studio wood sculpture is noteworthy for its modernist asymmetrical polymorphicshape and exceptional workmanship; the bowl is very light in weight, weighingonly several ounces. The bowl displays a graphic wood grain and a deep reddish chocolatecolor. The piece is signed “Park” and notated “Koa WO”. The bowl has been identified in correspondence by an individual withknowledgeof the artist; \"This bowl was carved here on the Big Island by a Mr. Park. Of Japanese descent he was well known for his ability to hand carve very thin bowls. Hard to date but I think it is representative of work he did in the 70’s – 80’s. He used an abbreviation for wood when he marked his work “WD” so what you see inscribed on the bottom is Koa WD. He is no longer alive and I can’t recall when he passed, but quite some time ago.\" .
