This estate piece is a beautiful vintage handmade Native American sterling silver and natural turquoise choker style necklace. This necklace was created by the late Elsie Nakatewa of the Zuni Indian Pueblo which is located in western New Mexico south of Gallup near the Arizona border. This piece was likely made in the 1960\'s in the style called \"needlepoint\". The tiny stones are in the shape of the eye of a sewing needle – very long and thin.
Based on research of like items sold previously, the natural turquoise used to make this necklace came from the Sleeping Beauty Turquoise mine near Globe, Arizona. There are 73 tiny needlepoint stones in this necklace! Comprised of three sections, this necklace is very delicate in appearance. The 21 petite dangles give this piece motion and life. The link chain is handmade as well.
The necklace is about 15\" long, is unmarked but tests as sterling and weighs 16 grams.
Elsie Nakatewa passed away in 1997. Necklace will be shipped for free including insurance and signature required.
