Up for sale is a vintage handmade Navajo sterling silver malachite and coral pendant!
Native Americans from the southwest have used red materials in their jewelry for a long time. It makes for a beautiful combination of colors and contrast and rooted in symbolic meaning. Coral is not found in any ocean of the Americas. Therefore any \"red gold,\" (often called by some artists) that was used in jewelry would have come to the Americas through trade or \"Wampum\" (trade beads) after the Spanish Conquistadors arrived in 1521. The bright red Mediterranean coral is rare today.
It measures 1-11/16\"long, including bail,1-1/8\"wide and weighs9.1g.It has been tested and examined for purity and is sterling silver.
