Vintage Navajo Sterling Silver Belt Buckle with Buffalo/Bison by TOM BAHE, 57 grams. This Native American made, solid sterling belt buckle is in good used condition with some scratches. It is signed on the back: Tom Bahe, Sterling. The buckle measures 2 1/2\" high & 3 1/8\" wide. It will fit a 1 1/2\" wide belt or smaller. It weighs 57 grams. It\'s an oval buckle with an overlay & decorative border with a buffalo or bison in the center. Navajo Tom Bahe was born in 1924 in Pine Springs, Arizona & died in 2009 in Fort Defiance. He attended Fort Wingate Technical School & acquired skills for silversmithing. He worked as a silversmith for traders in Tucson,Phoenix& Scottsdale for over 60 years. He enjoyed traditional stories, herding sheep & helping with traditional Navajo ceremonies. Tom Bahe was famous for his overlay silverwork in particular & when you have this buckle in your hand, you will know why!
