We are offering this beautiful vintage dagger from Caucasus region, former Soviet Republic of Georgia.
Hand crafted by a master sword maker. Circa II half of XX c.
Sheath made of Melkhior, or so -called \"German silver\". Beautifully decorated, quite heavy dagger compared to the most we have come by. High quality of craftsmanship is evident here. Has double edged blade (11.5\" or 29cm long bare blade) with three fullers on each side.Overall length with the sheath is about 19.1/4\" (49cm). These type of daggers were always made for decoration purposes and they were used to adorn \"Chokhas\" (ethnic clothes) of the members of Georgian folk dance companies. So lot of attention is paid to the details and look of the decorations and mostly were one-of-a-kind pieces. This particular item comes from personal possession of a former dancer of \"Erisioni\" - a famous and one of the oldest Georgian ethnic dance companies in Georgia.
