This is a Vintage Northwest Coast Tlingit Haida Tsimshian Wood Carving Totem Owl Crest Panel. Beautiful hand carved and hand painted wood Panel. Depicts what I believe to be a crest of the Owl. Tradition is that the Owl was only used by a Shaman. Deeply carved, yellow cedar wood has aged and has slight warp. Size is 9 inches tall by 14 3/4 inches wide by 11/16 inches thick. In very good condition, scuffs, small scratches. Nice patina. Unsigned. No repairs. Circa first half of the 20th century. Northwest Coast or Alaska panhandle region.
