It depicts a young girl, looking right at you, playing with her marionette puppet. It is painted with tempera, and is painted on board. The piece framed measures 22 1/2 x 27 1/2 ins. Painting alone measures 20 x 24 3/8 ins. approx. It is in POOR as is condition with numerous areas of flaked off paint and re-painting, or in-painting. It has wear and needs restoration unless you like your paintings with that shabby look to them. It is signed on the back but mostly the name is worn off of an old tag. The last two names are Wengert Woodroff, and it is titled Nancy and her marionette.I would date this to the late 1930s-40s time period. It has such a marvelous hidden meaning type of aura about it, her eyes are so calculating aren\'t they?
