Beautiful Vintage Blonde Orpheum Archtop Guitar, made by Kay in USA in the 1940s or 1950sThis rare beauty features a solid spruce arched top and flamed curly maple arched back and sides with checkered \"Rope\" binding around the top and bound back and neck. The tortoiseshell headstock overlay is in great shape and the fretboard features a Brazilian Rosewood fingerboard with original wide brass frets in good shape, all polished up with minor wear on the first few frets. The original Kluson No-Line tuners are in good shape with replaced creme buttons, very stiff but they work, original brass ferrules intact. This guitar is in fantastic condition with restored playability, just set up with new D\'Addario 80/20 12s. The neck has been reset, frets lightly dressed and polished, new pickguard bracket to mount non-original tortoiseshell pickguard, replacement tailpiece from vintage Harmony guitar, with original bone nut and adjustable bridge. The guitar has a lot of honest wear including a lot of marks and scratches on the top from playing, case rash on the side bouts and the tortoiseshell neck heel cap is starting to crumble. The guitar has no cracks or crack repairs, lines with grain are just thumbnail scratches. A piece of binding was replaced on the lower back edge that\'s about 1-1/2\" long, there are dings around the edges of the headstock and the endpin strap peg is missing. The bridge is adjusted all the way down with action less than 3/32\" @ 12th fret with 12s, you may want to bring it up a tad or get crafty if you really want it any lower, I think it plays fabulous where it\'s at right now, nice and low with no buzzing and full volume. The neck is big and chunky and is straight with just the right amount of relief. This is a rare and wonderful guitar that plays and sounds superb, you will not be disappointed.
