***PLEASE NOTE: Plate stand is for display purposes only and does not accompany this plate!

Stunning vibrantly colored & elaborately artistic imagery along with Hebrew writing decoratively ornaments the beautifully illustrated surface of this marvelous gilded Jewish holidays platter. There are six (6) indentations in the plate representative of each of the six (6) traditional food items that are emblematically and symbolically integral parts of the traditional Passover service:

1 - Maror - bitter herb, symbolizing the bitterness and harshness of the slavery which the Hebrews endured in Egypt.

2 - Chazeret - bitter herb, symbolizing the bitterness and harshness of the slavery which the Hebrews endured in Egypt.

3 - Charoset - a sweet brown pebbly mixture (traditionally made from chopped nuts, grated apples, cinnamon & sweet red wine), representing the bricks and mortar used by the Jewish slaves to build the storehouses of Egypt.

4 - Karpas - a vegetable other than bitter herbs (usually parsley, celery or boiled potato), which is dipped into salt water at the beginning of the Seder

5 - Z’roa (also called Zeroah) - is special as it is the only element of meat (a roasted lamb or goat shankbone, chicken wing or chicken neck) on the Seder plate, and it symbolizes the korban Pesach (Pesach sacrifice).

6 - Beitzah - a hard-boiled egg, symbolizing the korban chagigah (festival sacrifice) that was offered in the temple in Jerusalem and roasted and eaten as part of the meal on Seder night.

The seventh symbolic item on the Seder table is a plate of three whole matzot, which are stacked and separated from each other by cloths or napkins.

Age/Period: Vintage - ca 1970s-1980s

Excerpted Research Information About Seder Plates & the Passover Jewish Holiday (attributed to wikipedia.org): “The Passover Seder Plate Hebrew: ke\'ara (ק?ע?ר?ה?) is a special plate containing symbolic foods eaten or displayed at the Passover Seder.

Each of the seis items arranged on the plate show the retelling of the story of the exodus from Egypt, which is the focus of this ritual meal. The seventh symbolic item used during the meal — a stack of three matzos — is placed on its own plate on the Seder table. Others place the Seder plate on top of the stack of matzos...”

Refunds, credits & exchanges are cordially provided if ever the actual condition of an item purchased from us significantly differs from the represented condition as stated in the original listing description.

In such instances we will request that you return the item to us in the exact same condition as it was received by you, and once we have received the merchandise and confirmed it to in fact be ours, a credit or refund (whichever method of compensation you prefer) in the amount of the purchase price as well as shipping costs will be issued to you. In the event that you feel a return is warranted, please contact us within three (3) days of receipt of your purchase and kindly provide: written documentation detailing the reason for the return; photographic documentation of the item’s post-purchase condition; and photos depicting the condition of all accompanying packaging materials (e.g. outer shipping box; interior merchandise boxes if applicable; bubble wrap; fillers such as packing peanuts &/or newspaper; etc.). This will enable us to verify the item as being ours (by comparing it with all original listing and shipping/packing process photos), as well as to ascertain whether the condition issue is a pre-existing one which we unintentionally overlooked referencing in the original listing OR one which perhaps occurred during shipping as the result of shipping carrier negligence/mishandling.
