This sale is for a beautiful vintage, one of a kind, hand made Kapa / Tapa tree bark clothdress. I haveneverseen another like this. The dress has a fabric with elastic top, woven coconut thread detail, and coconut strand and polished shell adornment. This type of dress takes up to 6 months to make and it is all done by hand, start to finish.

Tapa / Kapa cloth is made from the skin of a tree that is beaten flat and then used to make the cloth. The cloths are then hand painted withnaturaldyes fromtheearth.

Thedress is old and in distressed condition. It seems it was exposed to moisture while in storage and so it hasacquiredsome mold damageand rips and tears in the cloth due to age. Thispieceis meant for restorationor display. Please refer to images for items detailed condition.
