Vintage English MATCH SAFE/VESTA CASE in shape of a traditional English POST BOXwith the royal coat of arms & Queen Victoria\'s insignia plus a table of prices of stamps per weight
STRIKER surface on the removable bottom to store matches
and bone/Bakelite? \"GO-TO-BED HOLDER\" on the top.
Untouched original condition- most of the red and black paint remains - obviously was used as a match safe as bottom (which removes to access the matches)has rust & shows signs of striking. Once the match was struck and a flame produced, the unlit end would be inserted into the holder on top so it could be easily carried to the light the way to bed. Hence the name: \"GO-TO-BED - a feature sought after by match safe/vesta case collectors.
