If you are looking at a somewhat rare 635 to use at any live event...this might just be for you? A 1st generation 1950\'s era E.V 635 in excellentworkingcondition with the XLR attachment and 24 foot Belden XLR cable.
This particular model of E.V mic was used at just about every event by Marilyn Monroe during her live performance shows in Korea during the war with the U.S.O as seen in pic # 2. A classy mic for a classy woman.
The E.V 635 is much like the 630 but has the adjustable OHMS setting and came with the revolutionary XLR attachment as opposed to the 3 pin screw on commonly seen on many American microphones from the 40\'s, 50\'s and 60\'s.
The 635 is not a harp mic but can certainly be used as one if needed? It was actually developed for use in broadcasting and t.v as stated in the original E.V adds at the time. It has a semi-directional element and the frequency response is 60 - 13,000 cps. It was intended for use indoors and out. An adjustable switch that gives the user an option of 50 or 250 OHMS depending on the needs and circumstances?
This unit has been tested on both 50 and 250 settings and has a very strong, clear signal with both. The joint mechanism works just as it should. This mic is quite versatile and can be used for both harp or vocals. Overall this piece is a very conservative8 on a scale of 1 - 10. The polished chrome finish does show signs of wear in the form of very fine pitting and a couple of nicks but overall very nice. Included is a vintage 24 ft cable (Belden 8422 model) that gives more than enough length for any stage or studio work. The cable is soft, pliable, free of cracks and has the popular detachable chrome Switchcraft 1/4 inch connector. You\'ll also notice that it has a very rare baffle / screen attachment that slips on the front and works excellent
This extra screen is a very rare find and helps to prevent any unwanted sounds from the wind or pops from a musicians breathing.. it simply slips on to the front and has plenty of tension so it will stay in place. There is slight wear on it as seen in pic # 4. Some of the chrome has been worn away exposing the brass metal beneath. Still a very cool feature.
