You are looking at a somewhat rare microphone that doesn\'t come around too often. This is a Turner Dynamic (model 57D) microphone manufactured in the 1950\'s for just a few years and was sold for broadcasting and T.V purposes.
The design was slim and modern for it\'s time and came with a satin black center to reduce any unwanted glare. Only the top and bottom of the mic had the satin chrome finish. Turner claimed that \"sound characteristics for both voice and music are excellent\". I have tested this mic myself and can tell you for sure the element is dead but I have heard working 57D mics and they sound great. I actually have a couple for sale on that do work and come with cables.
This mic was was a considerable chunk of change back then being far more expensive than most mics Turner was offering for sale.
As you can see the overall cosmetic finish of this Turner 57 is pretty good. Just a few tiny chips in the black paint on the center tube. The satin chrome tip and joint mechanism are perfect as is the screen. In my own opinion I would give her a conservative 8 on a scale of 1 - 10. It\'s certainly worthy of any vintage microphone collection and could be easily fixed. A little secret...the Electro Voice 636 element fits perfectly inside of this Turner 57D. It\'s about a 15 minutes procedure from start to finish and will make this Turner 57D sound golden again.
The turner badge is very nice and comes in the original gold and black finish. Completely legible with no physical damage.
