You are looking at very nice and very rare Astatic S20S dynamic microphone from the late 1960\'s which had excellent sound quality and was perfect for broadcasting or singing purposes but it should be noted that this mic no longer works and should be used strictly for display or prop purposes only. it does come with a cast iron stand however.
This was Astatic\'s answer to the Shure 578S microphone. They were both very similar with thin long bodies on a pistol grip. The Astatic Corp did not make these mics for very long and you\'ll be hard pressed to find another of these around. The rarity of them makes them a very interesting conversation piece.
As you can see the mic itself is in great condition. The satin chrome finish glows and has zero pitting or scratches. The black painted pistol grip looks great and free of any cracks or fractures. Just a few small scuffs on the paint. The mesh screen looks nice with zero dents. The mics joint mechanism works perfectly giving a wide degree of tilt up and down and the on / off switch slides smoothly.
The S20S took a modern style XLR cable which was a nice change from the screw on cables of that era. The late 1960\'s and 70\'s was a time when all the major manufacturers were converting (finally) to the XLR connection.
The mic comes with the cast iron desk stand shown. It\'s a slightly newer Chinese model based on the famous Atlas 763 model. The stand itself is in excellent condition showing zero wear and really compliments the S20S. A wide heavy platform to keep your mic from tipping over. The chrome riser looks fantastic as well. Total dimensions for the mic and stand are 15 inches tall (mic raised fully) X 6 inches wide.
This Astatic mic will make an excellent display piece on the coffee table or just about anywhere in the home, office or studio.
This mic is 100% original and 100% complete.
