Vintage Longaberger Wood Basket Purse 1983 with RARE Early Bottom Stamp. Here is a Lovely Vintage Wood Basket Purse or Pocketbook Handwoven by Longaberger of Dresden, Ohio. It is Artist Signed HGR and dated 1983. This Wood Splint Purse LONGABERGER stands a little less than 6 1/2 inches tall NOT counting the handle. The handle makes it about 10 3/4 inches tall. It is 6 1/4 inches deep and a hair less than 10 inches wide. It has a solid wood lid and a solid wood bottom with leather hinges and a rawhide leather loop for a clasp with a wooden piece to hold it closed. It has a darker stain than the newer baskets. This Longaberger basket purse is marked Baskets by Longaberger which I was told is a very early mark and that only 200-300 Longaberger pieces were marked this way. Although this purse is preowned and about 29 years old it has been very gently used and only has light and normal signs of use. There is some scuffingand wear to the bottom wood piece where it sits and one very tiny sliver of wood (pictured) which was probaby there when it was purchased. Sorry no liner.
