This is a vintage 1970\'s Reuge Suisse Musical Bell Box. It has a 72 note cylinder, 3 brass bells with strikers that have butterflies on them, and 2 beautifully dressed dancing girls. The cylinder, as mentioned, is 72 notes and plays 3 songs: Flots du Danube by Ivanovici, Legendes de la Fords Viennoise, and Sang Viennese, both by Strauss.As the music plays, the butterflies strike the bells and the 2 girls dance and twirl in time to the music.This music box is as much a joy to look at and watch as it is to listen to!! The sound is incredible!! It transports you back to a much slower and gentler time. It is housed in a mahogany cabinet with glass on all sides so you can see inside from all angles. It measures approximately 12\" x 8.5\" x 5.5\". It is in good working order and has been well cared for. It was looked at by one of the world\'s most renowned music box shop\'s experts. It is inits original box from the factory.

My Mother, 89, had 2 shops for many years. Music boxes always appealed to her, and before you knew it, her shops were known in the greater Philadelphia ( tri state )area fortheir selection of music boxes. She was able to deal directly with the Reuge factory in Switzerland, instead of importers. She sold this box for $3000.00...back in the 70\'s. If she wasn\'t dealing directly with Reuge, this box, when you could find one, sold for over $4000.00. This particular box was always one of her favorites, and she kept this one for herself.I cannot keep everything, so this treasure will go to a new home to delight a new owner with its whimsy and romance.

I will mention here. When we had our shops, we enjoyed a wonderful reputation for having beautiful things, giving our customers great service, and most important, running a straight and honest business with fair pricing. For this reason, I have not \"jacked\" the price up to its retail price ( $3000 - $4000. ) It is listed for it\'s wholesale price, back in the 70\'s. We\'ve never played games, and I am not going to start now here. It is a bargain at its price now. I will keep it if I can\'t sell it at a more than 40 year old wholesale cost.This music box is not being made anymore. Go find another, at any price.
